The liberal policies adopted by the government of Sharjah in the 1980's which continue in the present decade have given the boost to business activities in the Emirate. The open-hearted approach and the smiling welcome to investments have provided a sound industrial base which is complementary by Sharjah's own natural resources of petroleum and gas from the desert and from the sea. Infrastructure and communication facilities are second to none. The Investment Group (Private) Ltd. has naturally benifited from the healthy climate for entrepreneurs. The Sharjah-based group of investors has setup one company after another and fast diversified into a new fileds as a result of the encouragement from the government's attitude. The Establishment of the Investment Group in 1983 as a holding company was the outcome of the realization that a centralized management had become necessary for optimum benifits from varied nature of investments. The Investment Group has been able to introduce increased control over companies operating under its umbrella. this has improved their stability, image, and service capabilities. A central administration with financial, legal, commercial and engineering advisors serves the mutual interest of the group. Despite the existence of a holding company, each individual company functions as an independent Operational unit, but profits are invested centrally through the Investment Group in new ventures, securities, as well as loughed back for the expansion of the group's constituent companies. Also part of the Investment Group - Horizon Aluminium Industry which is partially owned by a 51% located in Dubai
